For those of you who may not know what a talisman is, it's a lucky charm, mascot or amulet; something you feel brings you a bit of luck!!
When I decided that I wanted to learn to read the Tarot I chose to work with the Mythic Deck and the very first thing I did was focus and meditate on every card for a few moments.
I mention this process in the first lesson of my free tarot course The Pleasure of Tarot, as I found it helps you to develop your own images, symbols and messages from each card, which in turn helps you develop your own unique way of interpreting the Tarot cards. In fact, I believe it is the single most important exercise to perform when you are beginning to learn tarot.
As I worked my way through the deck a number of cards resonated with me, I felt a particularly strong, happy and positive vibration.
These cards were:
The High Priestess
The Hierophant
It's no surprise that I was drawn to the High Priestess, considering I was embarking on a new journey of self-discovery and wanting to enhance my ability to understand and use my intuition. This beautiful, feminine card represents spirituality, enlightenment and education. Getting in touch with the energy of this card helped me create the essence of Lotus Tarot.
The Hierophant helped guide me along my life path, as he stands for good counsel, and a giver of knowledge and enlightenment. Again no surprise I was drawn to this card considering my belief that Tarot is an ancient form of counselling. I have based my Tarot work on helping men and women around the world to develop a greater sense of self-love and self-confidence.
The balance of the feminine and masculine, the yin and yang of these cards gave me a feeling of spiritual wholeness. These cards are very special to me and always will be.
More recently I have felt the desire to travel to many countries and to explore my spirituality further, and currently The Sun card shines like a beacon for me. I feel its warmth, its energy and it fills me with joy.
Why dont you discover which
tarot cardsare your talisman or good luck charm?
You will need a
tarot deck for this, hopefully one with images you find pleasing or meaningful. Follow the process I mentioned earlier: sit quietly in a meditative or contemplative state, and one-by-one try to feel which card or cards resonate with you.
Perhaps you'll find that the cards do in fact 'talk' to you, and you won't really need the books or course material to learn how to interpret and communicate the Tarot.
Have fun!!
