Hi, has anyone had trouble with the gamecube overheating after a moderate amount of play? My nephew just got one, and it seems to overheat quite often... I am an online and gamecube rookie, any help you can provide would be great.

Hopefully we'll be hearing a lot more about defects and problems with the GameCube and X-box so that ps2 will remain the best console :-P

never hope for something like that you may like PS2 but with the other two out on the market they will have to out do one another so this is much better for them to all be fighting for #1

What you say is true but i'm just hoping that the ps2 doesn't lose the race for the best console so blatently that Sony stop making games for it to focus on the next console to make [like what happened eventually when i bought a Sega Saturn quite a while back :-S

Whoa i thought i was the only one who had a Sega Saturn :-P i bought it when noone knew which was the best out of these 3- Saturn, ps, or nintendo 64.......of course my luck made me buy what became worst of all. But even though it didn't have the most famous games it had the most fun games, like bomberman boy that was fun to play on my friends saturncos he had a 8-player linkage and we all blew each other up >-)

But yeah even though i can buy marvel vs games on the ps2, the controllers not the type for that game, saturn at least had more of an arcade style controller [ps2 you gotta press r1 and l1 for heavy kick and punch which is just annoying]

R.I.P. Sega Saturn

Hmmm. I remember seeing an article where they opened the GameCube and split it to see what it looked like. There's was a very... uh... creatively... applied layer of thermal compound between the processor and it's heatsink. I'd wager that your GC has a problem with a misapplicated thermal compound.

If you are a computer wiz or know one onw who is, then you could try having a look inside your cube. You might just be able to fix it with a simple coating of Arctic Silver III. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
... then again you might just break it. he he

My little brother has one, too, and I noticed that, being the little messy guy he is, he always crowds it with all his other stuff. Really, it's crammed in between lots of other things like his toys, games, socks... god knows what else. If I was that game cube I think *I* surely would overheat. So I dunno, if your newphew isn't doing anything like that and it doesn't stand close to a heater ( like my poor DSL modem hehe) I don't think it should overheat, really. Maybe it's broken, and in that case he should be getting a new one from Nintendo, right?

Yeah see cuz my brother has one too, and he hadn't had any trouble with his. So if it hasn't been over a year don't crack it open cuz its probably just defective. I think I said that last time. But I don't know I can't read, only write anyhow yeah like the Angel said Nintendo should just give him a new one. Now with that said back to the Saturn. Yes, they had the best controller for the game, but capcom got smart and trashed that mid punch and kick so the Ps2 controller work great on the new Marvel Vs. Capcom2. Sadly I should know I have it for both Dreamcast and Ps2, sadly that's that only real reason I got a Dreamcast...........huh odd I am.
