I just pulled the new pillar out of the mold - it's completely smooth! This one I did in one long pour, and made sure to thoroughly coat it with the mold release. There's only a slight rippling at the bottom where I had to add in filler wax to handle the divot. So far, so good!

Well oddly out of the three molded candles I did at the same time - with the leftover wax that didn't fit into the pillar - the first one was fine and the others were rippled. So maybe it has to do with the temperature, once it started to cool down. Or maybe there were more impurities near the bottom of the mix.
