I just read this week's article. You are so right that the conversation has definitely, for the most part, shifted. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of single friends but there was a time when being single meant my married friends always talked to me about "finding someone". I had lunch yesterday with 2 girlfriends. We talked about politics, other stuff in the news, my new job--but very little if anything was mentioned about relationships (theirs, mine or anyone else's)

Isn't great? I love going out with my single friends, because we actually talk about things that are important to us as women, or as students (those of us going back to school, or changing careers), or single mothers, etc.

I am single but i dont live alone. Here in the philippines it is common to live a home with the extended families.Like,I have my elderly mother on my care,I am the guardian of a nephew whose mother is my sister working on the gulf, and the families of my married younger sister and brother are living in our house.I never felt left out or alone, i have so many people around me to love and respect me.I love my career,my families and friends.I didnt think much about my being single because I am happy and contented.

I truly enjoyed living alone. I did so for several years then, my daughter and I decided to cut down expenses by sharing an apartment. Although I love her and my grandson and our home is roomy and comfy and we get along fine, I really miss having my own place. When I lived alone I had absolutely no restrictions on my time, my space or schedule. I miss that.
