I am very interested in talking with those of you who have used private child support agencies to aid you in collecting current and/or past due child support. Please post here is you are interested in sharing your story. We do not have to talk in the forum. We can discuss my private email or by phone. Thank you, in advance, for your help!

I am a lawyer who has both attempted to enforce and to defend against child support claims. I am personally acquainted with the top management of SupportKids in Austin, Texas. I know at least one lawyer who works with a child support collection company here in Lubbock.

All collection efforts face the problem of finding the obligor, then finding the obligor's money.

I would like to create a child support insurance product. Do you readers have any thoughts on how much to pay for such a product? Would you buy it?

I contacted Support Kids about getting my back child support but they want 35% of your check once they get the absent parent to start paying their child support. That just seemed to be too much to me.

Hi, Jeanette -

I am not a SupportKids fan and I understand what you mean about that 35% fee. When I asked a SupportKids rep why the fee was so high, she told me that 65% coming to me was better than nothing and to "call back when you are serious about collecting your child support."

Why not many have posted to the forum, I have received a few emails about experiences with SupportKids. The final article is going to make an interesting piece.

I was told basically the same thing. I can understand paying a one time fee but 35% of every check I get from him just seemed a little off to me. I told the lady to forget it I would contact a lawyer. They charge you once and that is it. It seems like a good idea with some tweeking on their part.
