I have fine hair that has been permed and colored and is in a shag cut. I need to keep it long for personal reasons. It is dry and a horrible color and styled awful. I need help to get it sophisticated and sexy. I don't even know where to begin.

Hello hrpuffinstff,
I love your user name! Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting.

You need conditioning treatments first. You may want to purchase treatments to use at home or have an in-salon treatment. Then, a visit to a hairdresser who can shape up your cut. He or she will also be able to fix your hair color. You didn't say what the color problem is but I suggest a demi-permanent color that will add color and shine and will not further damage your hair.

Am greatful for the ideas. The color problem started this weekend. My stylist went crazy and added tooo many weird red highlights. She corrected it by going dark...now the red is truly highlights and not all over stripes....it was extreme. She has shaped it.

Thank you. I got to work and I looked nice, but when I got off work I looked terrible. I so wish I could get my look under control! My boyfriend recently said I look like a ragamuffin. Not good considering our peers are upper middle class and I sooo want to look my part.Wish I could post photos so everyone could see what we are working with here. Seems like there's some good advice out there.
