Well, it would have made sense if I had done another love or marriage article this week for Valentine's day, but I had something happen in my life that was just so awe-inspiring that I HAD to write about it instead.

I found out a friend of mine from high school was donating a kidney to a complete stranger.

Thiw just floored me. I couldn't imagine doing anything more selfless. It inspired me to write the article:
Good Folk

What Good Folk have you had in your life?

I enjoy all the articles, but this one was especially thought-provoking. The most loving incident I know was when my adored Mother-in-law had stage 4 lung cancer. We went in with her for the treatments. She would go around to the other patients and talk with them and give them encouragement. To me, that was truly loving. She has gone on now, but left a shining light behind.

It always amazes me when people who are in so much pain themselves take time to offer comfort to others.

That is a truly giving heart to spare others the loneliness that is so often felt in these diseases.

I know your mother-in-law must have been a special woman and a blessing to your family.

There is a statue of Jesus Christ in the foyer of the LDS temple in Los Angeles. He has no hands. I was told that "we" are His Hands here on earth.

There are many classes of angels. We are one of them. Without wings, perhaps, but with hands to serve and uplift one another.

One brutal winter when friends and I stayed at a Lake Tahoe cabin, we nearly froze to death in the truck. We were foolish and young, unaware of the real dangers of driving at night in heavy snows. The snow drifts were so high, it was as though we were in a frozen labyrinth. We got lost and we didn't know what to do. The truck heater couldn't keep out the icy air, and we began to panic. I prayed and prayed and suddenly, there was a knock on the driver's window. A man motioned for us to follow him and we followed him. How did he know where we needed to go? We drove through twists and turns. Then, he pointed to the right and we saw the condos. The road was too snowy for the truck and we had to get out to walk through thigh-high snow. We turned to thank him but he was gone.

We thought he was an angel. Later, however, we read that some local people act as good samaritans to assist stranded motorists. But he might as well have been a real angel. He saved our lives.

Good people are angels when they act as hands of Christ.

I love that Lori!

There is a praise song I remember hearing a couple of years ago that basically said;

"I wanna be His hands, I wanna be His feet, I will go where He sends me"

That is exactly what that song was talking about!

rainbowridergrma,

What a wonderful person your Mother-in-law was - and so concerned about others by pushing aside her own pain and giving the others what they needed. How inspiriing to hear stories like this.
