My pastor has been preaching a series on the spiritual disciplines. Which is really what reading the Bible in 90 days is about for me. Training myself to become more disciplined in reading the Word daily, learning to properly pray for others, journaling consistenly, speaking (or writing) with wisdom.
I found this awesome quote during some of my research that hits a homerun about why we must be disciplined in our walk with Christ.
Today, [my father] cautions everyone he meets regarding the importance of "daily bread," regular intake of the Word of God. He says, "I have discovered that you cannot build up enough 'points' with God so that you can never afford to simply coast in your spiritual life. The moment you set aside the Word of God, you become vulnerable to whatever Satan sets before you." Dr. Tom Elliff
Have you had your daily bread? I find it interesting that my foolish choices, thinking, and speech have a direct correlation to the times when my spiritual life was malnourished. The more we feed the spirit (with the Bible's teachings), the more our Christianity will become a lifestyle that reflects the true light of Christ in everything we do, speak and say.
