ok I get a newsletter called Weird NJ---I am from NJ---and they have
some WAY-OUT-THERE stuff in the newsletters from time to time. So
this month's is all about Hollow Earth theory and I am just skimming
thru it and I find some strange christian take on it and this quote
(notice what I have highlighted with *** ):
<<< Most Christians know about Issac of the Old Testament. He
had 12 sons. His name was then changed to Israel. Therefore, we
have the 12 tribes of Israel. *** Much of mankind is
descended from the tribes of Judah or Joseph. *** However, the
present location of the descendents of the other 10 sons, or tribes,
are unknown to us. They have then, become known as the 10 Lost
Tribes. >>>
now what I want to know is this---how many christian groups believe
this (what is highlighted above with *** )? where does this preposterous idea
come from? I can trace my family tree back to the 1200's and I have
no Jewish contributors at all, and surely if 'MUCH of mankind' comes
from these 2 tribes there would be more contributions in modern times
when there are so many more people involved?
why do people believe this? That the whole human race comes from 2
ancient Jewish tribes? What about all the thousands of humans on the
earth before Israel and since? what is such a big deal with Israel?
Can any of this so-called ancestry actually be proven by DNA or other
science? Are there any statistics available that can put a realisitic
number on the amount of people alive today who have descended from
these tribes?
and I do not want to be misunderstood as anti-semitic, if you are
Jewish-fine! enjoy your heritage! But if you are not--why would you
want to force the issue by making something like this up?
