I watched it (but, of course!). I had mixed reactions of the show.
- The show opener by U2 really didn't thrill me like I had hoped. I couldn't wait for it to be over.
- Whitney Houston looked lovely when she presented for the best R&B album. It made me so happy to see her up there looking so nice and put together.
- Justin Timberlake and Al Greene = great performance. Especially considering it was put together last minute. I heard that they had 2 hours before the show to rehearse because they were a last minute filler for Rihanna. So kudos to them.
- Carrie Underwood's performance was self-indulgent to me, and I'm reallllly tired of that song. However, I did love her shoes and her mic -- super cute.
- Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus performing "Fifteen" together was cute, but a little uncomfortable for some reason. I could tell Miley was trying really hard though... they are both adorable.
- The Jonas Brothers did do a pretty awesome job with Stevie Wonder. Good for them.
- Blink-182 is coming back! Yay.
- Adele needed to spit out or swallow her gum -- it was driving me crazy. Don't go up to accept a Grammy while chewing gum!! No, no, no!
- Katy Perry was super cute as usual... loved the banana.
The highlight of the evening for me was watching Jennifer Hudson perform and accept the Grammy for Best R&B album. It was tearful, beautiful, genuine, and well-deserved.
The one thing I did take issue with was some of the wins by Allison Krause and Robert Plant. I know some people love them, but "Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals"? "Album of the Year"? I was definitely expecting (and hoping) for different names to be called for those categories.
... All in all, I don't think this was a memorable year for the show -- I've seen better. Hopefully they step it up next year.
