Hey guys,

My hair is driving me nuts.

Y'all may remember ( and can definitel;y see from my picture) that I went totally bald a couple of years back.

I keep trying to grow it out, but once it gets past a certain point, it drives me NUTS - and I go get it cut again. It's staying in that perpetually spiky stage - real fuunky, which I actually like.

The problem when I grow it out is it starts curling. So I'm either wearing a hat (have a ton of them), or a hair badn anywhere.

When will I be throught the awkward stage?

Or should I just give it in and stay short?

The awkward stage drives everybody crazy. It takes months to get through, depending on how fast your hair is growing, but normal is only 1/2 inch per month so it takes a year to get 6 inches of hair. The only way to get through it is to find a hairdresser who will work with you and gently shape it as it grows. - Trims every 3 months or so.

I'm back again.

My hair is never going to grow out. I can't get past the "fuzzy" stage. Once it gets to my ears and it starts curling in various directions, it drives me nuts. My stylist can't do anything with it other than chop it back down to the spiky stage.

I'm doomed to be forever after punky or wear headbands and hats for the rest of mny life!

You have very pretty eyes, Chelle, and short hair shows them off more. Of course I have never seen you with long hair, but I like the short style on you.

Have you ever tried a blunt cut? Lynn had an article or two on those styles and showed different ones for different shapes.

My best style was always a blunt cut, just below the ears - but, now that my hair is much thinner, the blunt cut no longer works for me. I keep it long so I can pull it up and back to cover my thinning scalp. ughhh! I so long for a really nice style that would work for me - something short and flippy or spiky.

I think here you have to need some basic care about to hair so you should take home treatment for your hair, Avoide chemical treatment it might be harmful to hair.

I lost all my hair a few years agotoo. When it grew back it was so unlike my hair used to be - I had curls!!! Anyway, as I let it grow (slowly) it started to look like my own hair again - now it's shoulder length and very straight.
I think when it's growing in you see the direction of the hair growth more (and you'll be more aware of this too), but as it gets a bit longer the weight of your hair starts to take it back into the shape you're more used to.
Just persevere!

I too, have a lovely collection of hats - I even learnt how to make them and qualified as a milliner!

Good for you for perservering. You became a milliner. That's amazing. You really took control of a bad situation.
