I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm 26, engaged, and tired of trying to explain to friends and family why I don't necessarily see children in my future. After yet another frustrating conversation over the weekend, I was determined to find some like-minded folks that won't attempt to 'convert' me. I hope I'm in the right place?

I understand what you are saying. It's like everyone is so worried that you aren't having kids. BUt you have to, right? I don't think so! Glad to meet you, I am 26 as well.

Hi, nice to meet you both :) I'm 28 and have been married less than 2 years - and people keep asking when I'm going to have kids! They think I'm a freak when I say I'm not...then tell me I'll change my mind.

Welcome, RachelPPC. Congratulations on your engagement! I turned 29 today :-), and I will be married for eight years this July 7th. I guess that in my situation, people don't come out and "reprehend" me for not having kids -- there is usually just an awkward silence when I mention that I simply don't desire to have any. In some ways that can be just as much uncomfortable. But this forum is absolutely wonderful -- I can express my thoughts and feelings of being child-free with people that understand and relate. I can't do that with a lot of my friends at home (most of them have children and don't understand my way of thinking!). Anyhow, it's nice to meet you, and I hope this forum does a great deal for you!
