I am new here and wanted to introduce myself. I am a 26 y/o female. I am a Mechanical Engineer and am tired of everyone telling me "you have to have at least one kid". If I wanted a kid I would say that instead of saying that I don't want kids. I am glad I found this place.

Greetings - just do what I do: Look at them like they've just said something incredibly stupid, and say, "No, I do NOT, under any circumstances, HAVE to have any kids. That is a CHOICE." Then that is the only response they get.

Old, fat, stiff, and slow.

That is what you say about chocolate mousse - not children!

"Oh come on, you have to have at least one bite" "Oh, you have to have at least one child that you will be emotionally, financially and morally responsible for, for at least 18 years of his life."

Hmmmmmm, nope, doesn't seem like an equalt statement to me. smirk

Welcome!

One of my "favorite" lines is, "Well, what if everyone thought the way you do about having children?" I still can't figure out what people are trying to accomplish with that line because it will never be the case that everyone in the world decides to not have children. So what's your point?

Hey, I'm new too! I almost cried with relief when I found this site. I'm 28 and have never had any desire to have children. The reply I always get is "oh, you'll change your mind!" That's like me saying "you don't want cats? You'll change your mind". I find it incredibly rude and offensive when people think that I'll see the error of my ways and be overcome with the desire to have something I don't want just because they think I ought to. I'm a Christian and I find the pressure to have kids even worse in my church - they're all married for a couple of years at most before the woman proudly displays her pregnant belly. My husband and I are happy the way we are, thank you very much! I'm so glad I've found a place to vent!

We won't have to worry about non-biodegradable diapers filling up all the land fills anymore?

again, I am so glad I found this place. It's not that I don't like kids, I love other peoples kids. I also like to give them back to their parents and have my time for what I want to do. I know that children take up that time and I wouldn't be able to enjoy the things I love. I also don't understand why everyone else is so worried about when everyone else is going to have children. Sometimes I think the ones that push it are miserable and want everyone else to be as well.

Hi, kittykat6306! Glad to see another engineer on board! I am an optical engineer. This forum has been really good to me. I can talk about my desire to be CF without the funny looks and awkward silent treatment that I often get from my friends with kids. Welcome aboard!
