So, what is your favorite yarn to use when making afaghans?
I recently made 2 shell stitch afaghans with Simply Soft yarn for 2 of my brothers and their wives.
I brought some Bernate yarn to make my last brother one.
I think I am going to do the ripple stitch for this one.
I love to use the croceht hooks that are gold with the flat handle by Clover.

Lately everyone around me has been having babies, so at the moment my house (much to my husbands dismay) is over run with pink or blue merles.

However, I love the heavy boucle yarns. I made a baby blanket this summer for one of the girls in my neighborhood. It came out so big and thick that I told her she could probably fold it in half for a bed pad.

But then, being raised in NH, a big thick blanket is the best thing. Just not in July in SC. Haha.

Hi Everyone: I am new to your forum, but the topic I learned at this time is what yarn I like to use for my projects, for blankets whether for babies or adults. I must say first that the yarn I have worked with, is not wool but sinthetic manmade yarns. And the less expensive large balls from Walmart. I do like Redheart and some of the new baby textured yarns. They are so soft and work up so nice. Look forward to others answers, if only to see how many actually use wool over yarn or visa versa. Good moring everyone,

Welcome to the forum. Personally I will crochet with just about any yarn. I do not do the thread crochet though. I leave that to my sister.

I use Red Heart often, Simply Soft whenever I can and am making baby blankets because of its softness. I enjoy the big bulky yarns that are out today. They make up into just beautiful afghans and such.

I use mill ends for some projects, you just have to watch these because you may get half way through and may find a bad spot.

I often find yarn and than pick my project rather than pick my project and than the yarn.

Yes I use just about any yarn that comes my way.

I really like the Encore yarns by Plymouth too. Very nice.

I am allergic to wool so I am totally removed from the whole itchy felting process fortunately! I design blankets and stuffed animals - amigurumi - so I tend to use a lot of Red Heart Super Saver.. Since I also design for Caron yarns I use a lot of Caron yarn as well... I love their new Eco yarn. I know there are a lot of people that don't like it but I love it. The colors are amazing and it works up more of a true worsted weight as opposed to their regular Simply Soft.... So for me it's acrylic all the way.. occasionally I'll get my hands on cotton but not so often. I don't design or create fitted garments and I don't like crocheted or knitted dishcloths sooooo.... Yeah. I sold my stash of kitchen cotton a year or two ago....
