I have had a few silver strands show up since 28, I'm 32 now. When I found my first it broke my heart. Silly, huh? I dye my hair black in the fall, so there hasn't been any more finds for a while.

I was in a very stressful job when my grey hairs first started coming in. I told my boss I was turning grey and he laughed at me (I think I was 32 or 33) - then he looked and realized I was serious.

I like playing with hair colors now so I don't see them until it's time for a new color. It looks like I still have about the same amount of grey now as then, now that things are far less stressful. So that's good I guess! Not because of the color - since I'm having fun playing with hair colors and don't leave my hair "normal" any more. More because the grey hairs are twisty textured and stand out rather than lay flat smile

I always had white blonde hair so I never went grey. It just went pure white...I was pure white by the age of 30. Now I get the hairdresser to dye it dark using semies.
All my children, bar one, started going grey in their late teens, early twenties as well. My 26 yr old daughter is seriously unimpressed about it all!

I've been turning grey since I was 13. Apparently this may be due to anemia and trace mineral deficiency. Dunno. Anyhow I haven't grown out my hair for 25 years but recently took the plunge. Ignore my avatar. I need to get a new pic. I'm 50 and am now almost totally silver. At first I tried to accept the regrowth but eventually decided for a near total shave off! My complexion is deep olive and the shiny silver hair looks kinda cool. Without all the damage that perms and colors cause, this natural growth is strong, brilliant and resilient. I'm not getting my 'normal' treated amount of end breakage so it feels like my hair is growing in very quickly. I'm not regretting the natural alternative - not yet anyway. But when 20 year old hotties (guys I'd like to date) start offering to help me across the street, I might reconsider! ~Anna Lee

I agree. I have a client/friend who looks awesome with her silver grey hair. However, she used box after box of blond color and it turned nasty green. Just recently (on thursday) I got her to come in and let me strip out the bad color and put in a nice warmer dark blond with bright blond highlights. For her, because she isn't ready, the color was a good choice. Additionally, I used CHI color which is sulfate, ammonia, and bleach free... so no damage to the hair and actually improves the hair quality.

Well, my mother went gray in her 30's, and it looks like the first signs of gray are starting to show. Could be because of my excess coloring and perming, LOL. laugh
Anyway, friends then tried to tease me by telling that I will now have to get it color "like all those women in their 40's"
So, then I show them my pictures of my hair coloring experiments, going from a nice blonde to pitch black in different steps. I always get the last laugh... smile

Guess what? I give massages and reiki. More info here!
