This is not wedding related, but so many contributors here have done a variety of parties, I'm sure someone can come up with some great ideas.

I'm helping a Girl Scout troop host a Valentine's Day Tea Party at our assisted living facility. There will be about 30 guests. We've got a starting point (sorta) with Victorian/Southern Tea Party, but I need to come up with at least 2 other themes and decoration ideas for the girls to vote on. They will be making the decorations and the food, so they get to vote on the theme.

The girls are ages 10-13 I think, and I have no idea how crafty. We'll only have about 30 minutes each week to work on decorations, so they need to be simple and easy to assemble.

Any suggestions are most graciously appreciated.

Make some paper heart baskets. That is where you cut and fold two halves of paper toegether of different colors . (red and pink or red and white) You then intertwine the halves and when opened it looks like a basket. Fill with candy hearts that have saying or M&M's or chocolates. Have a cupid hand them out.

There are lots of ideas you can use, one of which are paper fans. The doilies used with these stick out over the edge and give a look of a heart. Use pink and red paper and white doilies and you will have a winner.

You said this is an assisted living facility-

What about looking up famous couples from the early films and making frames around them?

(Scarlett and Rhett, Fred and Ginger, Bogart and Ingrid, Lucy and Dezy, etc)

You can pick up paper frames from any craft store and decorate them with glitter pens, stickers, beads, etc.

Make the whole theme a Hollywood Valentine.

That way it would bring back memories to the residents of their early Valentine's.

Thanks for all the great ideas! That website is definitely a keeper, thanks Cheapside.

The girls are very excited about the Victorian theme for this event. However, we do have another assisted living facility in our area, so maybe they will want to do this again in the fall. The Hollywood theme would be a great option for them to do some additional research, and get a bit more planning experience for a larger event.
