Does anyone know of a resin free hair product line that actually works? I've tried the Suncoat line and it's just so-so.

Hello Margo
Welcome to the forum.

I'm not sure what you mean by resin free. Tell me the benefits you want from your products and what you want to avoid and I can probably give you some suggestions.

Hi Lynne,
I had recently posted re: my white hair turning yellow, and how Malibu Tx had turned my tinted hair orange(due to the iron in my water supply), but did nothing to remove the yellow. After going to my stylist, we believe that "maybe" the white hair is turning yellow due to the resins in the haircare products (Matrix iron smoother) I was using in addition to a flat iron (it possibly baking the resin in the product into my hair) The bang area is the only place where I was using that product(plus hair spray) and that is the only area where it was turning yellow. The rest of my hair is brilliant white. She ended up using bleach to lighten the yellow somewhat(but not entirely) to the point where it is livable. I am trying to use products that will not cause my white hair to turn yellow again. I need some hold for my bangs when styling my hair. I don't typically wash my hair every day. If I use a hair spray then I feel I need to wash it again before I can iron my bangs and it's really not convenient. Any thoughts?

YOu need to try a whiteneing shampoo and conditioner, one designed for white gray or bleach blond hair such as BioSilks Silver Lights. It has a purple tint which removes any yellow tint to your hair.

Now that your hair is white, it acts like a straw because there is no color molecule left in it and it will suck in anything it can. Unfortunately this means the iron in water and other impurities which will discolor your hair.

I am using SilverExpressions by Pantene. The weird part is that just the bang area is turning yellow, everywhere else it is fine. That's why we are thinking it is a combination of product and heat that is causing it to turn yellow. Any other thoughts?

try a professional shampoo conditioner. they tend to be a little stronger. Also consider a deep cleansing/clarifying treatment to strip the bang area.

Thanks for your advice, Jase. What would you recommend? I am a licensed aesthetician so I do have access to the professional beauty supply stores.

I doubt that the Matrix Iron Smoother would discolor your hair. However, using the iron after the hair spray might. What kind of hair spray do you use?
