I heard eagles calling to each other when we took our pack of dogs to the lake, but I did not see them.

We have a pair of Baldies that nest in the area, hopefully it is them back for another season.

The pipers are also back and saw a giant Great Blue Heron as well as cormorants at the lake today too.

This is that address label sticker I mentioned that even though it is a pic of leaves kind of looks like a fox face if you glance fast enough.

I can see the fox face on the card if I kind of look to the side of it - how cute!

I was sitting on my patio this morning watching the woodpeckers again. There are now seven that come to the same tree every morning to gather.

It warmed up a bit today. I was outside getting some fresh air and saw my woodpeckers in "Grandma" the live oak in our backyard that's about 200 years old.

Yesterday one of the hawks swooped by and squawked a bit. I'm so pleased they are staying in the area. Maybe we'll have another clutch of babies this spring. We certainly enjoyed them last year.

My woodpecker friends still come every morning to the pine tree, four of them now. I also see two other woodpeckers that are a little bigger than the black-backed - maybe they are Flickers (?). Sometimes 8 or 9 Black-backed woodpeckers gather for a chat in the tree before taking off on their own daily tasks.

The hawks come over every day and I love watching them. They are very curious around here - I think there may be a lot of cats roaming around, besides the squirrels.

Aren't flickers more brown with some reddish and spots?

I have red-bellied and downy woodpeckers here. I haven't seen pileated in a couple of years but they could be around. We have red-shouldered hawks around my neighborhood.

I could sit and watch the birds all day long.

I do not know for sure, Angie. These woodpeckers are a light speckled gray with a black crescent under their neck and it almost looks like the under side of the tail is a reddish color.

I just searched and found an image of a Flicker.
You can see it at the following link. This is what the woodpecker I see out back looks like.

The Downy Woodpeckers are so cute. My Mother usually has one in her backyard.

I am going to make a suet for the birds and see if they like it.

I usually just mix bird seed with peanut butter and spread that on my patio railing.

I saw a flock of Seagulls heading out towards Pyramid Lake a little earlier.
