Just wondered what everyone thought about the new "Exercise Pill". So far it is working in mice. It replaces the need to exercise.

It's supposed to work for helping diabetes, for one thing but it seems to me that more and more people are relying on pills instead of changing to healthier habits. Millions are on cholesterol and blood pressure medications when studies show that diet and exercise are helpful for both of these. There are hundreds of other examples.

Do people really think it's ok to exist on fast food and processed foods, be overweight and never exercise or eat any fruits and veggies and then expect medical science to "save them" when they get sick?

My first thought is NO WAY! But, I have been hearing that food intake matters more than exercising when you want to lose weight (it's more important to eat less and eat healthy than it is to exercise, because exercising burns fewer calories than you think).

The thing with exercise is that it's not just about weight loss! It's about keeping your brain healthy, rejuvenating your spirit, keeping your arteries and heart strong, rev up your libido, improve your body image, keep your muscles active.....a pill can't do that.

I'm for exercise, not pills.

I totally agree. It's a shame that there continues to be a market for more and more pills to replace actual living. Part of being truly alive is moving your body, and breathing deeply (what's next, a pill for that? smile ). Finding more reasons to feel good about stagnating is a huge step backwards...

One thing they might not be addressing too about the exercise pill - does it really totally replace exercise? Maybe it's like taking soy isolate powders or synthetic vitamins. They can't even know all the parts or all the real benefits of exercise and the pill may only replace little parts.

I can't imagine a pill can make you feel as good mentally as exercise does.

Exercise will always be better. Exercise is great for your mental health as well as physical health.

Now I just need to find some time to get some exercise. smile

I can't believe this kind of stuff. I'll wait and see and in the meantime keep walking!

I think its like saying if you consume enough vitamins in pill format, there's no need to eat.

You still need to exercise, especially as women, weight training helps prevent osteoporosis as we get older.

No thanks to the pill I enjoy being active.

One point I think the pill misses is that exercise can be enjoyable! You feel like you've accomplished something if you go out and walk every day.

I don't think taking the easy way out is always the best thing to do.

I never knew until now there is such a pill. Where can I find more information about it?
