Twilight is here!!!!!!

Who's going to see it this weekend?

My 11 yr old daughter is probably going to go into cardiac arrest if we don't.

I've been reading user reviews on Yahoo, and they haven't been all that great, though. Although all the trailers and specials I've been seing look amazing.

We have both read all the books (well, she is on the 4th one right now). So we'll be able to compare them.

Oh - and a little poll for you guys: Team Edward or Team Jacob?

OH YEAH!!!

My daughter and I are going on Sunday, I can't wait!

We found the books by accident this Summer at a book store where a friend of hers works in the young reader section. She raved about it and said we HAD to read them, so we bought the first one and DEVOURED it. Then got the other two and went through them even faster.

I thought there were only three books in the series. What is the fourth one?

I've read them all and I am a Team Edward fan. I saw the movie today with a friend and we loved it. It was interesting how they did all the thought from the book, although they didn't do nearly enough. Especially when it came to what the other boy was thinking and Edward hearing what he was thinking, or what the guys that circled Bella were thinking etc. Or even what Edward was thinking when she first walked in the classroom. Would have explained a lot for ppl not familiar with the books.

I just posted this on another site about this same topic.

Hi, everyone. Just wanted to chime in. My daughter (age 13) is absolutely obsessed with this whole series but get this. She's read it over three times but every time, she's talking with her friends and they all critique it so harshly with statements like "this sucks" or "why do I do this to myself" yet, they had me take them all (10 girls mind you), to see the movie of which I enjoyed.

My daughter was like "mom, you don't get it. you'd have to read the book and then you would say the movie sucked" I just smiled but let them all know that movies never do books justice. I used to be a Stephen King fan and they did movies on his books and just totally made a mess of 'em. (I think).

Anyway, she enjoyed the first book but this recent one, that we had to sit in a Barnes and Noble for several hours until finally at midnight the book boy brought 'em out and the girls literally attacked him like crazy, this particular book she despises yet craves at the same time. For a whole week after reading it, she carried it around with her with this sneaky smile on her face like Linus with his blanket.

Once, my lil' son (age 10) hid it from her and boy, the house was in uproar until he finally came clean and told her and boy did she let him have it. He just walked off giggling. Hubbie and I were looking at each other confused. Then he says to me, "and I thought you were crazy about Y&R but this takes the cake." I guess, we have a family of obsessions.
It's like an addiction you wanna give up but are too drawn in. Go figure.

My oldest daughter (1st year in college), she says Stephanie Meyer should take a break writing because her efforts are becoming too painful to read. This comes from an avid reader. Go figure on that one. Happy holidays everyone.

The first three books were great; but I wasn't at all thrilled with Breaking Dawn. It just felt like she'd really given up on the storyline and was doing ust what she needed to do to fulfill her contractual oblications.

I thought the movie was very sweet for Teenagers, but not at all believable. It was also one of those movies that lie to young girls - making out that teenage boys are sexless - like Edward wouldn't have tried it on with Bella! Not even a kiss. If I was Bella I'd be questioning if Edward was gay LOL. I'm on Edward's team, the other guy is nothing! Completley dull - and in the looks department, there's no comparrison, Edward out shines him completley.

I also really didn't like the way they changed nearly every vampire myth - why didn't the writer just make up a new monster hybrid if she was going to do that. Plus, the actress playing Bella was miscast IMO - she was just so dull too.

I found the film, very long, slow and unbelievable. There wasn't enough action. No horror at all for a vamp movie. I did think it was cute though, and could imagine watching it on a rainy afternoon.

I think they really need to up the stakes if they expect the sequals to do as well - some action would have been nice. I actually wanted them to kill Bella at the end - it would have made it more interesting. The biggest insult was the changing of all the vamp myths except the drinking of blood. It's boring not to have the crusifix, garlic, holy water and sunlight, stake through the heart etc. There was lots of eye candy in it though LOL.

I think a lot of people are disappointed with the movie version because 1) It is aimed at teenagers and 2) The author is a devout Christian so it didn't surprise me to hear of realy no sexual scenes in the books or movies.
