I get my hair professionally tinted, but I still end up with discolored scalp from the tint. Can't go anywhere after the appointment but home to scrub and scrub my scalp. This lasts for several days during which I have this tint "halo". How can this be avoided while still getting the roots completely covered? Sandy

it cannot unfortunately. This is the price we pay to have color applied and to stay all the way to the roots. The applier can attempt to keep it to a minimum around the face and ears, but necks are fair game with longer hair. It really is difficult to avoid, but you can attempt to minimize it.

I rarely have the problem you describe. When it does happen, it is only in a couple spots.
It is usually from dark tint - dark brown to black - because there is more die stock in the hair color.

It also happens when my clients have spent a lot of time in the sun and their skin is dry. It absorbs more of the color.

Does your hairdresser use a color remover around your hair line after the tint?

You can also help to minimise it by applying a good skin moisturizer before your tint appointment.
