How big is your RV and are you comfortable living in one?

Honestly, here in Florida, I could get one used....I am considering that instead of a house and paying all sorts of mortage payments, etc....

What is it like?

Gosh Robin, sorry for the delay in responding. Since the holidays came around, I have been off line more than on!

Hubby and I live in a 38 foot Damon Ultrasport Motorhome. It has two slides...one in the living room and one in the bedroom. We pretty much took out all the furniture that come with the unit and put in our own stuff...I have a wing chair and ottman vs the very uncomfortable recliner, and we tossed the sofa and got a nice futon...more storeage underneath. We even got rid of the dinette table and chairs...now we have a moveable island that we can use while cooking and it rolls back under the windows. We never ate at the table inside, we love the outdoors. In bad weather we pull stools up to the island. Works great and again we have much more storage now. We love living in our rig. We are currently hogtied in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas doing some elder care for hubby's 92 year old dad. We would normally be here in the winter months, January thru say April. We like the fact we can pick up and move on a whim. Seeing the entire country is our goal...and then we will head north to Alaska and Canada and then south to Mexico. Living in a RV is not for everyone. I had to get rid of alot of my "stuff"...I do have some stuff stored with FIL here in Texas like photos, videos, some books and other misc junk that I just couldn't part with. You have to change alot. Cooking is different...I have fewer clothes(no winter stuff is great!). We follow the sun and the warmth in the winter and head north for the cool in the summers, usually upper Michigan.

There are some great sites on line...Escapees.com is a great place to start. Also check out The Gypsy Journal on line, think it is gypsyjournal.net. Google fulltime rving and you will get a ton of hits.

I bet you could get a fabulous deal on a rig right now. The economy is crunching the RV industry...but at least gas prices are down.
HTH...take care.

My hubby and I are transitioning right now to fulltime. We just upgraded to a gorgeous 1998 SeaBreeze, 34 feet, no slides, with a layout we love. Changes we will make - ripping out the dinette to become DH's office. Taking out carpet and adding pergo wood laminate instead (with dogs carpet gets nasty and we prefer the clean lines of flooring).

We might take out the easy chair and add something less RV-ish, but will likely keep the couch.

Dennise, how do you keep the furniture from winging around in a hard stop?
