Do you enjoy Ning? What do you do there?

yes I enjoy Ning. I belong to several groups. Some are for writers and marketing books. Recently I joined one for life coaches called Life Coach Vision. Probably 10 altogether and I'm sure more to come. LOL.

I run a ning group that is a spin off of my yahoo group but I added sub sections for things that have to do with twitter, one was for autism twitter day and now one for autism book swap.

They are like groups with forum, photos, groups, etc so you connect with a member, can have chats for members and run contests, giveaways, etc.

The two other sites I write at have private ning groups for their editors. You can have it set up to send group messages but I prefer not to get all those messages from members trying to sell their stuff.

On twitter I joined a ning group that was promoting a $25 shell gas card to the 325th member and I timed it to win, gave the card to my sons aide for Christmas gift.

I am in another one now that is giving away a flip camera phone to one active member on Jan 1. Also another group is one for wild earth tv that we watch from twitter link to see this african bush drives and they have fireside chats CAT time and I belong to an elephant group where we discuss those issues at zoos and I rate lots of the photos, can import them from flickr easy.

Ning group is better to make friends and talk to other friends and share images. Thanks

I joined several nings groups for different interests I have or to promote different blogs and websites. One thing I like about it is you can add an RSS feed to your page for your blog and it helps attract readers.

You're right, Leah. Once you save your info you can join any ning in no time. I tend to kind of cut and paste an "about me" to all of them also, with my links and blogs.

Ning groups seem to be better for helping to make money from writing and other creative pursuits, I never had any results from Yahoo groups as I never opened up the messages.

My mailbox would get overloaded with this huge digest of writers messages - it put me off even looking at them.

Networking and passing on tips abouts writers jobs, freelance opportunities and writing competitions is so much more open and full of better faster technology on ning . I'm hoping to encourage some newbie writers from My Online Writing Coaching Site to join me there to chat as its an ideal way to connect with readers without sharing email addresses.

Yes, lol, we are the professional writers! We are always talking about how to make money from writing!

I try to keep up, and pass on the writing buzz to help my newbie web writers.

What I would like to know is - who owns the Ad revenue on the social network groups people start up on ning?
