I just wanted to drop in and say Hi. I am the Weddings editor. I look forward to working with everyone, answering questions, writing on my favorite topic and learning. Just a few facts before you post. If you have a business that is associated with weddings, or you are promoting a place you did business with personally, please post your ads and praises here. That way there is a specific thread for it instead of starting a new thread. We all want to help out with business growth, but I would like to check out the validity of your offers and products before I allow a post to remain. I will not let you use our wedding forum to mislead others. If I find your post is misleading, I will delete it. If you post a new thread and it is direct advertising, I will delete it. If you advertise in the middle of a thread I will delete it. Thank You Sandra

Welcome Sandra!
My mom is a caterer, and her "specialty" was always weddings. So I grew up around them! And then our best friends were florists and photographers, LOL.
For my wedding, I made half the food myslef, my mom made my cakes and my brother decorated them (he is a chef himself), and my mom's catering crew worked the wedding as my wedding gift. And my florist and photographers did the wedding at cost as my gift as well.
It comes in handy growing up in the business!

Hi Michelle and Robin. Thank you for making me feel welcome. Michelle that is great growing up in the business. In my family it was planning events with my Dad. I learned alot from him, it still to this day just ignites a passion. Thanks Robin there it is stuck in my head too. The wedding march. Take care and Happy Holidays.

Thanks for taking this on Sandra! Being the oldest of 3 daughters and one of 15 granddaughters (one side of my family only) I've helped with tons of weddings, not to mention all the friends.
The one thing I enjoy the most is taking an expensive design and finding a way to do it affordably. When I was planning for my wedding, the elevated, separate cake stands had just come out. The rental was almost $100, well out of my budget. I got different size wine glasses, flipped them, and attached plexi glass circles to the base. A little silk ivy attached underneath the circles to hide the wine glasses, and I had my cake stand design for under $15.
I've never really had the "Wedding March" stuck in my head, but then I walked down the aisle to "Thank You" by Led Zepplin. I'm not completely Un-traditional, there's an organ solo at the end of the song.

:)Thats the part I love about Weddings too. Recreating an expensive look for nothing, (well next to nothing). I have done some Weddings were people have said the sky is the limit, it doesent challenge me as much. I did't do traditional either it was a Guffria song. Got married in the 80's. I look forward to this challenge.

Hi I am the new married no Kids editor. I thought I would have a look around the forums and introduce myself. Once the wedding is over the real work begins, except sometimes couples have been living together long before the wedding!! Hope to contribute some good ideas to the forum
