Do you know your online instructors qualifications? In my courses the instructor's curriculum vitae is available so I know their qualifications? The use of adjunct instructors has increased so do you know if you have a core faculty instructor or an adjunct? Do you know how to find out and is the information easily attained?

Some things to ponder....

Yes, It's important to get qualified instructors. If you study from a reputable institution, then the care for instructors qualifications are minimal.
There are many Universities which offer online courses, but to choose the best one is a hard matter.

For the online courses from accredited colleges, I had checked the qualifications for hiring and for most courses, online or not, required a masters.
For the online and instructor led courses for adult learning (such as grant writing or event planning type courses), I find that all a person has to have is an interest in teaching the course. No scientific research, one of our board members was looking into teaching a class.
Some college websites may contain information about some of the professors, but not all.

The golden standard is a Ph.d in whatever is being taught. In my quest to become among many things an adjunct professor, college faculty (on campus as well as online, in a community college setting the requirement has always been a doctorate in the field you desire to teach. I don't like it as a job applicant but I appreciate it as a student.
