In talking with friends and family recently, I've noticed that almost all will be curbing any plans for travel for at least the next six months due to financial restraints.

I know it can be very expensive for families to travel even though the price of gas has come down. Some families I know are staying in town and visiting local places - hence the term "staycation".

I live in Atlanta and here we have the GA Aquarium, the World of Coke, and the CNN studio tours. As a local, I have not been to many of the cool places Atlanta has to offer. What about you? Would you consider a "staycation"?

Where we live many attractions are advertising Staycation specials. I think it would be a great idea if we could see the local sites and not end up cleaning out the garage instead-lol.

I've also read that resorts in our local area are doing pretty well with attracting locals who want to get away from home but not travel very far to do it.

About 5 years ago we were in Disney World. My son was around 5 at the time and we met another couple with a child about the same age. They asked us where we were from and we told them Phila PA. They said "wow you guys must get to Sesame Place all the time!" My husband and I glanced at each other. He has never been there. My sister and I went once with the kids. It is funny how you tend to ignore the places nearby. Philly has a lot of attractions like the Liberty Bell, etc. I think the last time I saw any of them was in grade school! It is a good idea but I still prefer the islands....any day of the week smile

Yes I live in London but I hardly ever go to the tourist galleries unless I have guests who want to visit them. And I've never been to Madame Tussaud's and the London Planetarium or Buckingham Palace for that matter.

It's typical that when you've got some of the world's greatest tourist attractions on your doorstep you never go near them!!
