The three of us are back from our four days of rest and relaxation. It was fun but it always feels great to get back home.

This was the first Thanksgiving that my husband and I have travelled and not made a big dinner for the family. My mom, dad and uncle have all passed on within the last few years.

It's just the two of us (and Oscar) now and I didn't want to be home. It's hard adjusting to losing loved ones and not doing things the way they've been done for years and years.

Is there anyone else going through these "empty nest" feelings like I am?

I am originally from northern NY state. I am down here with my aunt, cousin and her kids - but my brother and sister are still up north. Dad passed on 12/15/04 and Mom passed 1 month and 3 days later on 1/18/05.

Even though my late husband and I came down here in 1980, I get so homesick this time of year, even though it would never be the same.

ps...where I am from got snow right before Halloween - and I get homesick??? What's the matter with me? LOL

But - this is the fun journal - so:

Had game night the other night with the family.

Have had loads of food at work - oh our people can cook!!!

There is a new outdoor mall in Wesley Chapel, FL (next town over) and I have been enjoying walking all around that place. I get there early in the morning (the 2 story Barnes and Noble opens at 9). That way, I have walked and enjoyed myself and can leave by 11 or 12 when the throngs of people start getting there.

Thanks Robin for sharing - I've found that fun journals can get you thinking about times when you were having fun in different ways and at different times of your life.

Trying to remember this is a FUN journal - our dog Oscar goes in for extensive dental work today... this makes my husband and I nervous because as a rescue Oscar has had major health problems. He's our baby - so please send all three of us positive energy.

The FUN part - I listened to a good book on CD - the unabridged version of Judge and Jury by James Patterson. It was good and 8 hours of pure escapism - I needed that!

Oscar is doing well - 5 teeth had to be extracted and more to come. He's a rescue and we don't know what the first six years of his life were like. But considering all the health problems the little guy has had, I don't think he was taken care of very well.

He's a real trooper - I should be such a good patient!

FUN------- We had our monthly business women's meeting last night and the focus was on gratitude. A powerful subject and a powerful meeting.

My husband and I are planning a "date" for our 24th wedding anniversary later this month - that's something fun to look forward to.

Thanks for reading my FUN journal.

Please join in if you'd like to share your fun.

~Sharon

Glad everything went ok for the little guy.

Congratulations on 24!!!

Made a revelation about something - I had been a little depressed as my 50th birthday is coming up in 2009 and I have no idea who among the people I know would want to do anything special. No - this year - dinner and a movie is NOT good enough!!!

I realized that I don't need anyone to help me do anything (and I can't count on it, anyway)....so I have decided to do something different each month....something that I have never done before. That way - by the time my birthday rolls around, I will have some great memories of what a ride the past year had been.

The Everglades is not really that far away - I have always wanted to ride in an airboat. Easy Street - where they keep leopards, lions, etc is in a suburb of Tampa - a visit might be something to do one month.

Becoming a clown is something I have always wondered about. Could I do it? Would I like to do it? Would I make the kids laugh or enjoy themselves at least while I am there? I would really like to serve as a clown in a cancer ward for the kids.

What else....?? Who knows - right now I am only thinking...although I did promise Jason in the Vegetarian section that I would give him a year of my life to try to stick to a vegetarian diet...so that will be new, also!!

I've been busy creating and developing new materials. That's always fun.

My husband and I went out for our 24th wedding anniversary. We had a great dinner and listened to some beautiful music. The view of the city lights from the restaurant was spectacular. It was all very romantic.

I talked with my aunt in Michigan - 10 inches of snow. That's why I don't live there any more. I prefer warm weather and sun!

Have a fabulous holiday and have FUN!!!

It was great fun on Christmas eve...

We had arranged a party in a restaurant in Galveston. The restaurants decor there consisted mainly of Christmas tree lights, had ordered the traditional English Christmas dinner along with great drinks, live music, crackers and a fun atmosphere!!

Our family brought their collective dogs over for Christmas dinner - all together 6...Standard Poodle/Irish Wolfhound mix, Doberman, Australian Shepherd, Golden Lab, Beagle and a Rat/Jack Russell Terrier mix.

They showed good manners and not one begged for food.....oh they were hoping, but didn't beg!
