Hi all,

I am working on this topic for school.

Do you agree that day care should be offered at work? For those of you who have day care at work, please share your experiences. Do you like it and why? Does it increase productivity, make the company completitive, and help the business bottom line? Is it cheaper than finding day care on your own? How do your colleages take it (those who do not have kids) and do they oppose it?

My speech will be focused on the advantages of day care at work but I also would like to hear the opposing side. I will have to answer questions afterwards & I want to be prepared. smile

Are there any websites that you suggest I check out?

Thank you!

My presentation went well. smile

Even though there are some older people in my class, I was afraid that the people who didn't have kids would attack me about the employers' cost for putting day care on-site. That didn't happen though. People were satisfied and actually surprised how many days people miss work because of their kids.

Hi,

Absolutely, I believe that companies should offer day care onsite! I was always lucky to be able to have my children with me for at least part of the day at work and I loved it! It made for a less stressful day for me and I was able to see my precious babies without going crazy worrying about them during the day.

Of course, I got over this as they became a bit older, LOL, but for the first year, at least, I think this is a great idea!

Hi Jacqueline,

Thank you for the feedback!

I don't have kids yet and that is why I asked all of those questions. All the research that I did states exactly what you said above. This topic helped me not only with school but it also made me aware of some issues that will come along the way.

I run the office, while we do not have daycare, I do allow all employees to bring their kids to the office. Since I have allowed this, productivity is up, stress is down, and people calling in has decreased. My only rule is no kids in the meetings or in my office.
