My all time favorite fish is the black tetras though. There's something behind the eyes and they are our longest living fish.
Jase - We have blue neon gouramis which are absolutely beauTiful (under sun glow and aqua glow lights). This is our first time having them. I find myself constantly looking at them. Have you seen the kissing ones? We don't have those ones but they are totally cute and hilarious.

I do like Bettas - my late husband and I tried to breed them once. We had no luck.

Yes, bettas are so great - when kept in a clean, appropriate aquarium with all the right conditions, they are so happy and love to dance and come right up to you with apparent joy! It's like they are saying "I really, really missed you!" every time you come over to say "Hi" to them!

I agree - they are beautiful! They've got flowing fins and wonderful colors and they way they move in the water is lovely! I especially like the way they swim over to you when you look at them - also when they do a little "dance" in the water because they are so happy to see you!!!
