Welcome! We definitely can help you out. You're going to go through sugar withdrawl for a day or two in here, so stick with it. It gets MUCH easier once you're on day three, and you really begin to feel healthier right away! It is amazing and scary how much sugar most of us ingest and don't even think about it.

Thank you guys for your support. I must say that day one was rather easy but I did feel the low energy and some foods did "speak" to me but I kindly said to them "no thank you!" and stuck to my guns smile
Once again thank you guys for the support I am happy to be part of the group smile
Good night and have a wonderful day tomorrow...

For people who are just starting low carb we definitely recommend you do days 1 and 2 on a weekend. Your body is going to be low energy as you go through the transition period, as you wean yourself off of sugars. You feel so much energetic after that, though, compared with previous sugar-high sugar-crash cycles!

I'm new too! This is going to be my first official day and I have been reading everything I can find to help me out! I am not looking foward to the sugar and caffeine withdrawal though frown I've tried counting carbs in the past but usually gave up after a week. I'm hoping these threads can help me stick to it because I am ready for a change

Ashley, welcome! And I would slowly go down to decaf coffee if I were you to prevent the headaches. Mix it in parts until you are fully on decaf.

I only drink decaff coffee now and don't notice the difference at all. Tastes the same! :)But as a result, my adrenals are much more under control and my whole life feels calmer.

Sugar...well...that takes longer to get used to, but you get to the point where real food just tastes better, with more layers, textures and freshness. Sugar starts to taste garish, somehow, lacking in real, honest flavors.

Hardest of all is to lose the comfort associations we have with starches and sugars. That is entirely within the psyche and therefore toughest to relinquish. But it can mostly be done if you find other activities that you really enjoy and that make you feel better. Like curling up with a cup of gourmet tea and a good book in a nice nook, instead of hunkering down with a tub of ice cream, a greasy Big Mac or bag of cookies.

Anyway, stay with it; we are all in this together and it really does work. smile

thanks! whenever i quit drinking caffeine i get a headache for like 3 days and then i feel great! its just getting through that! I'll try mixing decaf in my coffee and then switching over in the next week or so. I stayed up all night reading all these forums and I am really excited. I even woke up early this morning to go work out! thanks for the welcome!!
