Wow, thanks! I am getting ready to try this, I have been thinking about it for a long time.
I have one question: If I record an "interview" conversation. Am I inviting extra spirits in? Like a Ouija board? I don't want to open my door to strangers, I just want to speak to the already existing ones.

Hello Strawberry Hill! Sorry for the delay. I do not believe recording a conversation will invite anything in that isn't already there.

There was a recent episode of Paranormal State in which a lady became obsessed with making EVP recordings in her home. The activity increased in her home to where her Grandchildren and other family members would not come to visit. Some people are just not comfortable around "Unexplained Happenings."

Encouraging communication may also encourage other activity. As with everything, please use caution and moderation.

Some of the high end digital recorders have a filter. In theory it could filter out your EVPs. We've found that we get the best results using the simpler, less expensive ones for EVP work.
