In New York, a man stored $20,000 in his girlfriend's oven. Over half of it went up in smoke yesterday when the pilot light caught it on fire.

Word to the wise - ovens aren't a good place to store flammable objects ...

It's hard to believe that some people would actually do this, but I'm sure it happens more often than we know! LOL, Thanks for the chuckle.

When we moved into our 85-year-old house the neighbor, who knew the family for years, asked us if he wanted us to have him come into our yard with a metal detector. When we asked why would we want him to do that, he said that the couple use to hide wads of money in coffee cans and bury them in the backyard because they didn't trust the banks back then. We told him, "No Thank You." We've never come across any cans of money, but seeing how the neighbor knew about it I wouldn't think the backyard would be a safe place to store your savings. Dugh.

Someone called into "Car Talk" (an NPR show) and asked an ethical question. He had bought a car recently. It had belonged to an elderly couple who had now passed away. He bought the car from the family. After he had the car about 6 months he happened to open the trunk and found $20,000 in cash. His question was.. does he give it back, or did he buy it with the car.

So I guess the trunk of your car can go on the list of places not to store it.
