okay, im a kid still. only 19 years old. to me and probably most of those in my peer groups, loud is fuckin cool as all hell. coffee cans attract as much attention as a wild paint job does whether its on a car or bike.
also.. you know how theres that whole thing where "young people" like really really really loud music? i forget the words/terms for this, but on the inside of your ear drum, there is a nerve or w/e leading into the brain from the ear drum and when it vibrates it sends pleasureable hormones or w/e into the body from the brain. the more it's rattled, the better. custom stereo competitions reach decibels that are absolutely deafening... but it "feels" good so we just keep trying to go louder and louder.
most people driving on the road are distracted by the loud music they play or the cell phone conversations they pay attention too.
i think loud pipes probably wont do you any good because most people who own a drivers license in my opinion canNOT operate their vehicles at optimum safety. the first time i took my drivers test, in a car, i drove perfectly. but the idiot next to me failed me because i did not have my car stopped at a stop sign for more than 4 seconds. the second time i drove absolutely HORRID in my opinion. i made several mistakes. but a different guy was testing me and he passed me. all he did was harass my mother that my car was running high (it was due for an oil change).
i've driven every where from upstate new york down to florida. and now i drive in memphis, tn. how the %$&# dmv's pass more than half the god damned people on the road i have no freakin clue. i have lost count how many times i've almost been run off the road or almost been sent spinning out of control on a highway in front of high speed traffic because too many people are careless. i was in a car when this happened. i doubt any one would have seen me if i was on a bike. i only think bikes are safer because theyre a hell of a lot more manueverable than flooring the brakes on a bulky car and praying you dont get slammed into.
