Recommendation letters are required by most grad schools for admission, the one I want to go to is no different. I am required to provide three, it's really just a sheet with questions on a form that they mail to the school.

How do you know who to ask for this recommendation? My problem is that I don't really have that many friends, or close work associates,(it's just me and my boss) or mentors, or anything like that. I am pretty much a loner. I go to work, I come home, I play on the net. I write. I'm a fairly solitary person and I like it that way.

I married my best friend in May, so he's out lol.

Years ago I did a lot of volunteer work but since my divorce I've always worked. I was raising kids and working and going to school ,not much time to get to know anyone enough to have them write a recommendation. I graduated from college three years ago and I did not keep in touch with any of my professors or friends.

I cannot ask my employer for a recommendation because he'll be worried about me leaving my job and it might put my position at risk since he really needs me/ or someone there...and I need me there...

I am qualified in every other way to get this Master's degree. It is in Human and Environmental Sciences (Financial Planning and Counseling).

I think this would fit in really well with my interest in helping people over come divorce. I may be able to use that degree to break into actually helping people "live" rather than just by writing articles.

Anyway, does any one have any suggestions?

Asking for letters of recommendation is always difficult. I applied for grad school while I was still in undergrad, so finding professors was a little easier. I would think about the volunteering that you did and see if there is someone there who could write one. They might not remember you very well, but they will probably still be willing. Provide them with the information they need such as how long you were a volunteer and what your responsibilities were.

As for you boss, perhaps you can think of a way to explain your situation to him without risking your job. I am not really sure how to help you with that one. Maybe someone else will have a suggestion.
