I was wondering if anyone makes their own wine and what kit is better than another. I don't know what my wine would taste like but I am willing to try ( I love to make things).
Thanks!

my creed is mead...1 quart honey...3 quarts of water...mix'em in a gallon glass jar with brewing yeast and a cork and airlock from the wine store.

Hello Skyhaven!

I started making my own wine back in the early 70s. There was a store called Wine Art that sold all things wine. Wine kits today can be found in a homebrew shop. You probably have one in your city. The kits that I used to make my wine were from a brand called Selection. Here is a page from the shop I used to go to:

Hi all! I'm Breeze. I'm just found this very cool place and am looking forward to exploring it and getting to know you all.
I have been trying for awhile now to find some simple, basic recipes for home made wine. I know that there are ways to make it without all of the hoopla of "kits" and such. Our ancestors certainly seemed to manage. I'd really like to try to make some wine the old fashioned way!
I lived in lower Alabama for a few years once and people there made wine from everything from watermelon to tomatoes!lol! They didn't use any kind of kits or starter or anything! Does anyone have a recipe or just some general passed down knowledge of how to try this? I'm really looking forward to hearing from you all! smile

I have never made my own wine, but I am willing to start learning. If the cost is only about $3 - guess what I will be making for Christmas next year.....

Hi!

Based on this discussion I posted an article on the wine site about my experience in making my own wine:
