Hello: ) I am hoping someone can answer my question. I have a fairly large Amethyst geode and I use it to cleanse some of my other crystals. I have heard there are many ways to cleanse crystals. What is the best way?

Whatever feels right for you.

You can cleanse it with salt, you can allow the sun to cleanse it, you can bury it... You might want to watch cleansing it with water, since it can leach the color from some crystals...

I also like cleansing crystals in the light of the full moon.

You can place your crystals in the palm of your hands, cup your other hand over it, and imagine an intense white light filling that space around the crystal. you will feel a heat, or a vibration, or a pressure pushing your hands apart. Once you get a sensation of some sort, your crystal is telling you it is cleansed. You can then re-programme that crystal by forming the thought of what it is you wish that crystal to do for you. Repeat the thought until you get a similar sensation in your hands.

You can use sound like a tibetan bell or a singing bowl, incense (wave it over and around your crystals), moonlight, sunlight and just plain thought.

Amythyst does not necessary cleanse, it is a powerful programmer. If you are looking for a geode to fully cleans jewellery or crystals when not in use, a citrine geode is great.

At the end of the day, the universe works on the 'intent'. If you intend for a particular crystal to do a particular thing, then it will.

Are you referring to "cleanse" as in clean from dust, etc. or "cleanse" as in removing negative energies?

To clean from dust, fingerprints, etc. I would use a soft clean cloth, like white flannel. To cleanse from negative energies or to clear the crystal, you can smudge it with the smoke of burning sage and cedar, as the Native Americans do.

Simple Soul also has some good thoughts on this.

Do be aware that citrine geodes are usually amethyst ones that have been heat treated to turn them orangey brown. Still lovely but not natural. Natural citrine feels and looks quite different- usually a pale shade of yellow. I haven't yet seen a natural citrine geode- only small pieces.

I have some crystals that I keep under my pillow. I'll try to cleanse them and programme them using Simple soul's suggestions.

Hi Free Spirit, Came across your posting while seeking images of amethst geodes for my flier (musical-presence.com) Gems, crystals are gorgeous. If you want to clean it psychically, just intend it. No need to use any bells or other crystal, or any special words, etc., unless that makes you more certain of the outcome. It simply is what you do with your energy - no different than cleaning your residence. It is a matter of faith, that's all. I would add that those who advocate doing anything with white light are generally mistaken in what they suggest. Pure white light is stuck energy, similar to the effect of depression. You cannot channel it, you cannot keep it in circulation (hence its affect being similar to depression). It is nothing to mess around with, unless you like to pretend you are dead :D Cheers! Peter
