Hello,
I am thinking about getting a Master's degree on line. Where should I start? How to choose the right school? I am a bit sceptical regarding on line education as to the future job search. Can anybody give me some comments on that topic? Thank you.

I would suggest looking into the various accredited programs = there are some featured in the Program in Focus section at http://www.bellaonline.com/subjects/6383.asp of this site for starters. Also, why not look into local schools where you might want to explore a mixture of online and on campus offerings?

As well, World Wide Learn at http://worldwidelearn.com/ has a massive listing of online courses for all levels.

I guess that getting Master's degree online is a great choice. You can make a search of the major online universities and colleges in Google. Though, I am also sceptical about getting a diploma from a random university.

I can't give you any advice because I'm going to get my master's degree in the university I've been studying at for 4 years.

Consult your instructors or teachers, they will surely give you some piece of advice.

My husband is getting his Master's in Education from Graceland University. (I think he is studying about Elvis). He will finish in December. We have had a few personal things come up and the teachers were great about it. They seem to really want to work with you.

My hubby went through Capella University. We had never heard of it before but several of his employers, former and current, used Capella for their tuition reimbursement program.

Hubby picked Capella because of that and because his grad degree is a bit obscure and they were one of the accredited schools that offered it.

Accreditation is very important; if, that is, you actually want to use your degree when you pursue employment.

Many larger employers are actually contracting with degree evaluation services now to catch applicants who are stating they've earned degrees--but the school awarding the degree wasn't accredited (or recognized by an authoritative higher education body, if the college is outside the U.S.).

DeVry has some great programs, too. They are a little costly, but the curriculum is very up-to-date. They are accredited, and have tons of academic programs.

Do you already have a job? Perhaps your employer will help pick up some of the cost. Otherwise, a good question to ask the online university is what kind of job placement services you would have access to.

Another way to help choose a good online school is to check out online college reviews posted by other students who've taken classes from those schools. Also don't be afraid to ask for free information from 2 or more online colleges so that you can compare their offerings, tuition, reimbursement programs, financial aid, job placement etc. Get as much information as you can initially and talk to the degree advisors of your schools schools of interest to answer any questions you may have.

Capella, Walden, Boston University, Westwood college, Tiffin University, Grand Canyon University, Columbia Southern (CSU) for millitary programs are some of the good accredited colleges out there.

Online schools are becoming more accepted because so many schools offer high quality education.

Choosing a school depends on a lot of factors (degree programs, faculty, cost, accreditation, etc.) just like traditional education models.

I'm getting mine through Northern Arizona University and it is great! It's also a regular brick-and-mortar college that is regionally accredited, which is very important to employers. When you get your degree, it also won't say that you did it online, because it is a regular degree.
