I agree. I always check the reviews on TripAdvisor prior to booking a hotel or making a reservation at a restaurant. I check Frommer's site as well.
Has anyone used Hotwire? If so, was the experience good or bad?

I always use Trip Advisor hotel reviews too! I think they have the best hotel reviews online. As for Hotwire, they are good because they have no booking fees for airfare. However, be careful booking a hotel on Hotwire. Hotels on Hotwire are non-refundable, and you do not know the name of the hotel until after it is booked. You may save money, but if you are concerned about the exact hotel you are staying at, I would book hotels on another site. I find that the best place to book hotels is on the hotels own website, and not on any travel agency websites. This is because they almost always keep the best rates for themselves, don't charge booking or service fees, and usually have good cancellation policies. If you had to cancel your hotel for any reason, most hotels will let you cancel for free up until your first nights stay. This can vary, so always read their policy on the booking screen before you finish your reservation.
