We never vacation for a week, only long weekends. There are 10,000 lakes in this state so that must mean there are 30,000 campgrounds or resorts. Just throw a dart at the map - you can't lose. Most people head 'up north', but southern Minnesota has great lakes, great recreation, great state parks, great fishing, etc. (and that includes the winter time) as well.

You decide what you want in a vacation and Minnesota has it. The Arts and Entertainment of the big cities; rural and rustic of the down home; a variety of geology: forests, prairies, but no real mountains. Want to feel like you're at the seaside - just stand on the shores of Lake Superior. Like gambling - there are lots of casinos. Most with nice campgrounds.

I think I'll be out of town next weekend.

Usually, we try to do a week or long weekend at the coast--Galveston is nice (when not in hurricane season).

Unfortunately, its going to be a while before this area is clear enough for the people that live there, let alone visitors.

Ike made a mess of things.
