I have no idea why this is happening: Recently my machine started jamming up in the bobbin area. The thread seems to "jump" out of the bobbin and get sucked into the sewing, causing a huge know. Any idea of why? I've tried switching thread, rethreading the machine, and rewinding the bobbin several times...

The times that my machine has done this, I've missed threading it back through that little "L" shaped hook (usually thread step #4) that is inside the machine before you bring the thread down and catch the thread from the bottom.

Boy, that was a lot of gibberish! I'll see if I can find a picture somewhere.

Thanks! I'll look for an L-shaped hook - I don't recall that step. smile

It has been a while since this question was asked, but in case anyone else has this problem, there are a couple of things you can check.

The first is make sure your needle is in the machine correctly.

Next is, when you are threading your machine, make sure your presser foot is up. When the presser foot is down, the tension discs are closed, so the thread cannot lay correctly when it is being threaded.

If both of those fail, it is probably time to clean the lint out from underneath the feed dogs. Usually the plate comes up by loosening a couple of screws.
