I recently found a pattern for an adorable baby sweater on the internet and it refers to a yarn called Sullivans Baby Soft Knitting Yarn. My local yarn shop never heard of this brand. The gauge for this sweater is 19st=4in using size 5 needles. If I had to guess, this is sport weight, but maybe not. Has anyone out there used Sullivan Knitting Yarns? Does anyone have a website that I could go to with equivalents maybe? Help!

I have not used that yarn, but my DK weight yarns generally are 24 stitches to 4 inches using size 5 needles and sports weight are 22 inches for 4 inches, but I would say swatch and use any yarn that gives you the correct weight. I think something slightly heavier than sports weight or use larger needles if it doesn't affect the drape of the garment. Try a swatch first.

Oh, after I originally posted this I found their site, www.sullivans.net or their Australia siteBellaOnline ALERT: Raw URLs are not allowed in these forums for security reasons. Please use UBB code. If you don't know how to do UBB code just post here for help - we will help out!

I found their website as well but it didnt' seem to be working properly as when I clicked on that particular yarn, the web page came up for details, but there were no details to be seen. At any rate, yes, I will take your advice to just create a swatch.

When you were in the website, did you see a link to free patterns? One of them is this baby jacket. it is really cute and not very difficult. I will let you know how I make out.

Thanks again!
