Just two weeks after Christina Applegate went public with the sad news that she had been diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer, the Samantha Who? Star appeared on Good Morning America August 19 to reveal her decision to have a double mastectomy."I didn't want to go back to the doctors every four months for testing," she said
The 36 year old actress, who will appear on the Stand up to Cancer special, is now 100 percent cancer free.
Applegate will continue a normal shooting schedule of her ABC sitcom, which returns from its summer hiatus next month. While she undergoes reconstructive surgery. "This was the choice that I made" Applegate said of her double mastectomy, " And it was a tough one"

Tough decisions to make, for sure, but a huge relief maybe?

With her family history, I think she did the right thing. If my insurance would have paid, I would have had a double.

I think she'll be a great role model and advocate for research.

Wow, I had no idea.
If someone can please explain why is this such a common choice, I would really appreciate it.

When I read this article: Breast cancer treatments I thought that if you just can, you will choose not to have a mastectomy...
