Does anyone make their own body and facial scrubs? I found a neat healthy hint on the scott common sense site for a natural and homemade body scrub to to try: Take two teaspoons of olive oil and 1/2 teaspoon of salt and mix it well. Scrub it on your face and body. The olive oil brings a glow to your skin and the salt works as scrubber. Has anyone tried this?

I use sea salt, natural massage quality oils (Olive alone can be a bit thick and the scent overwhelming for some) and whatever essential oils I want for the therapeutic effect I wish to achieve.

Natural, inexpensive and delicious to use. Great for the skin! Look for pure, vegetable based oils like olive, sweet almond, rice, avocado, etc.

Thanks for the tips! That's interesting about the olive oil and I'm glad to hear that before I try the scrub. That would be a good comment to add to the common sense community so other women can decide what would be best for them.

Two other scrubs which are easy and inexpensive are sugar and oatmeal. You have to chop up the oatmeal a little but it makes a great scrub.

The sugar you can massage in until it dissolves.

One of my favorite scrubs is made of 1 cup rough sea salt + 1/4 cup of olive oil + a few drops of rosemary essential oil. It's refreshing and leaves your skin feeling like silk.

Other good natural scrubs are: (Don't use them on the face if they have any mint oil or family of mint)

1 Cup coarse Kosher Salt
1/4-1/3 Cup Olive Oil
5-10 Eucalyptus Essential Oil
4-6 drops Spearmint or Peppermint

1 Cup Kosher Salt or Sugar
1/4-1/3 cup Olive Oil, Avacado Oil, or Sunflower Oil
10-20 drops glycerin
Any essential oil blend to your liking

1 Cup Coarse Ground Dried Ginger
1/4-1/2 Cup Shea Butter or Cocoa Butter

I used to make my own salt scrubs but have since switched to sugar scrubs. I found the salt scrubs really stung if you had nicks from shaving.
