I love that quote! The author loves his dogs - he mentions them in every book.
Dogs bring such joy to our lives.

Lord, please help me to be the kind of person my dog thinks I am!
Forget who said that, but always like it.
As for dogs being the first therapists, they may not have done the job knowingly, but the nonjudgemental acceptance and unmitigated love they give us makes having a dog a very therapeutic experience.

I put contact lenses in my dog's eyes, They had little pictures of cats on them.
Then I took one out and he ran around in circles.
