I was just reading back through some of your articles and came across one I missed about kids joining a junior league and have to agree with you. My oldest who is quite a quiet reserved kid had shown a lot of interest in bowling and always seemed to enjoy it when the family went so when I spoke to a couple of the bowling people at the centre and they told me about the junior league he seemed quite interested. I made the decision for him and took him along the next time they were playing. Spoke to the coach that was there and he joined up, he's been in it for a few months now they play once a week and he thoroughly enjoys it. Now the youngest son who has to come with us and maybe was not as interested has stated he would like to join as well so the next time we go he's signing up.
The junior leagues are great to get the kids mixing and meeting new people, if they decide further down the line to stop playing then that will be their decision I won't push them to play. However it is nice to finally see them taking an interest in something other than Computers and game consoles..

Good thoughts, Mikie. Thanks.
Yesterday was registration for the new Junior Bowling season that kicks off September 6. I was happy to hear that my three grandchildren wanted to sign up again. As I have mentioned before, I do not force them or try to corece them into continuing. It has to be on their own. We merely ask them if they wan to continue and that's all. No justifying, no enabling, no discussions - just "do you want to continue bowling in the junior league?" Straightforward with straigh answers.

My daughter said that she even caught them flipping channels once day and when it flashed across a match with Jason Belmonte*, they immediately switched to it and watched the entire match. They did not know who Jason was but now they do.

*Jason Belmonte is the Australian two-handed bowler who is an international star as well as United States Bowling and World Tenpin Bowling Association Ambassodor.
