Raven's always been bold in his work, and never shy of speaking his mind. I hope his lawsuit breaks the barriers in the fiction of Wrestlers being independent contractors. I hope Raven puts Ric Flair on the stand. The Nature Boy might really give Vince something to sweat about after what's been going down recently.

Ya, it seems Raven has got himself a case & will earn quite a bit of money. The wwe should have settled out of court when they had the chance. But they do have a great set of lawyers. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, but I see Scotty getting the best of the situation.

It isn't only Raven who will come out a winner if he wins the suit. There are a lot of wrestlers out there who are ex WWE workers who would benefit as well. I'm all for it. I see wrestlers as working men and women who deserve the same perks as they would get on any other job.

I'm a licensed massage therapist and this is something that comes up in regards to MT's working in chiropractor's offices or spa situations.

Employees - Come to work when they are told, are paid a set amount (hourly or salary), have taxes and medical withdrawn, etc.
IC's - Set their own schedule and provide their own materials, set their own prices/amount, keep their own money and have to pay expenses and taxes out of that amount.

If they tell you when to be where you are their employee. :-)

They are definitely employees. The WWE pays them to participate in matches. The WWE has control over their gimmicks, their names, theme songs etc... The WWE gets a piece of the pie for every movie they are in, every book that they write and every DVD that is produced.

If they were independent contractors, they would be allowed to go and wrestle for TNA or ROH or anywhere without worrying about being fired. Then there is the whole "The WWE has released such and such today or The WWE has suspended wrestler X for whatever."

I hope Scott Levy gets everything that he wants. The WWE does have to be knocked down a peg or two.

Then yeah - they will end up being legally classified as employees. I'm glad. I hate to hear about people taking advantage of the IC rules.

_I_ am an Independant Contractor and I personally prefer it. However, I know the regulations and would never allow someone to take advantage of me like that. I hate to hear about it happening in WHATEVER field - massage, wrestling, what-have-you.

Interesting thread! Keep us posted on what happens!!

I have a sneaking hunch Kevin Nash is also involved in this lawsuit. It's been pretty obvious he's not happy with this situation for a long time. He even grabbed a microphone and spoke about it on television when he was in the Wolfpack back in his WCW days
