Hi, Jim

I have ordered some isocort. Did not get the tests, but started using some adrenal supports. Were not strong enough. I am low in the evening, high in the middle of the night and morning.

Do you know anything about dosing the isocort? I have some info, but wanted to verify.

Thanks so much. HOpe you are doing well.....Peggy

pmcgall,

I've always felt, going according to the manufacturer's directions is always best with any supplement because they have the most research and study behind them.
I also feel when you supplement with supplements containing cortisol, you should retest your own cortisol levels about every two months and also monitor for any symptoms that might indicate that your cortisol is going too high. Some people experience hypertension and hyperglycemia if they get too much cortisol and in severe cases can develop either adrenal suppression or Cushing's Disease symptoms (hyper-cortisolemia). Plus over time it can affect other hormones levels because cortisol is a pre-cursor (converts) to some of them. These aren't problems when you aren't getting too much but is why retesting your cortisol level is important in my opinion.
I hope that helps and thanks for the good wishes!

Hi Jim. I have another question about Isocort. I didn't think it contained cortisol or hydrocortisone. It just has adrenal cortex listed as the ingredient.

Thanks for all the good articles you write and share with us. I really do enjoy them and forward them to people I know would benefit from them.

Take care.......Peggy

Peggy,

Here's one source that states Isocort contains 2.5mg of cortisol per pellet:

"1 pellet contains approximately 2mg Cortisol (Cortef)."

https://secure.endfatigue.com/store/products/supplements/isocort/
(The Annapolis Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia Research Center.)

The caution people should be aware of, is the fact that the per-dose in bottles of this supplement is not regulated by FDA or USP so that you can't be guaranteed of dose consistency.

Jim,

Thanks so much for clearing that up.

I know my cortisol is high at night, can't sleep. and low in the day...can't get going.

I appreciate you being here. Hope you have a good day today.

Peggy

AWWW!! I'm blushing now!!

My isocort came in. I have an appt with an endo( never seen before) this coming tuesday. I am trying to hold off till then to begin using this. I don't really know why, but I am. Maybe, I am hoping this doc will be able to actually help me.

I haven't had a decent nights sleep in over 2 years, and am barely functional at this point. No sleeping med yet has worked. I am ramping up on the armour, due to the poor adrenals.

well, I've made it this far, but I sure would like to get my zest for living back.

Take care, and thanks for listening....hope you are doing good in your thyroid journey.
