Hi. My husband and I are DINKs and proud of it. That said, I'm trying to come up with a list of childfree vacations for next year as we are planning our vow renewal. Our first honeymoon was in the most unlikely place (so says my mother in law): Walt Disney World. We love the place but I'd really like to have other places on my list before making a decision. If anyone has any tips, ideas, comment, etc. please tell. I'm open to any! Thanks.

Depending on how you would like to renew your vows, you can actually go on a vacation that offers a complimentary wedding ceremony, i.e., Carnival Cruise Line, Disney Cruise Line, Grand Lido Resorts & Spas (Caribbean), Super Club Breezes Resorts (locations in Jamaica, the Bahamas, Dominican Republic). The added benefit of a cruise ceremony is that you don't have to worry about taking extra money for food and such because all of it is included in the cost of the fare.
The sky is the limit...here's to a great ceremony and vacation experience.
Warm regards, Kay

Your mother in law is right! Disney is a surprising choice! When planning my upcoming honeymoon I looked online for places with a large gay community - I figured these places wouldn't be so family centric and there would be more couples friendly activities. I finally chose Key West and I'm really excited about all the fun things there are to do there. We're definately going to do some kayaking in the mangroves and visit the cats at the Earnest Hemmingway house. We also want to go to the butterfly conservatory and maybe catch a cabaret show. There are wonderful restarurants and shopping and we are really looking forward to renting vespas and tooling around like we're in Italy. You might consider New Orleans, especially during the cooler months. Depending on when Mardi Gras falls, you could miss the crowds and the chaos and catch some really nice weather at the end of March or April. It is a unique, romantic place with a lot of history and it is full of friendly folks who are VERY happy to see tourists returning. See if you can't rent a condo in the warehouse district and check out all the art galleries. There are incredible antiques to be found on Royal street and fantastic restaurants everywhere. I have to throw in a reccomendation for a place called Frank's located near the French Market where our handsome silver haired waiter charmed all of us eating upstairs with some impromptu Sinatra. There is a beautiful cathederal at Jackson square, which is full of street preformers and fortune tellers and artists. I'd skip the not so romantic carriage ride and hire one of the artists in the square to do a portrait of you and your husband. And don't miss The Aquarium of The Americas- it's been a while since I've been there but it's a fun way to spend the afternoon- especially if there is an afternoon shower or if you want to get out of the heat for a while HTH!
I am the shadow of a waxwing slain...

Got to plug my favorite city - St Augustine, FL. It is right on the water, there is a lot to do. In downtown St Augustine, they have horses and carrieages for tours.
The Lightener Museum grounds are open for weddings, etc - my cousin just went to one there.
It is a beautiful place.

Walt Disney World can be great for childfrees too because you just do what YOU do want to do don't have to keep stopping cos of the kids or factor in what THEY want to do all the time, you can MUCH more easily get a ride for two than wait for one for four, there are also clubs we didn't get to check out and restaurants which we did and great nighttime shows and going by boat from Magic Kingdom is romantic.. (we went last Summer it was great!) Does it have to be in the USA I can recommend some places outside of USA. In the states only been to (as well as above) Las Vegas, Hawaii, San Diego, Las Angeles (inc. Santa Monica) and very briefly Denver. Enjoyed all of them. Yeah the luau sounds good!

I leave the child-rearing to people who feel called to it. I've never felt that call.
