When you're having trouble believing whether or not you're psychic or even just second guessing the information you get, it's going to effect your experiences on many levels. Both go against personal validation.

Validating your abilities is probably the single most important aspect of taking control of the natural gifts we have and isn't that hard to get started.

When I first took responsability for my own, it was very hard and I was very young. As most people would imagine, I went to my parents. It went something like, "I don't feel right inside (mom/dad), when someone talks. I hear something else, like stuff they're not talking about or when something they say isn't true I know that and I can't understand why they're still talking. I can't sleep either, the angels keep waking me up and there's bad guys too. I don't feel like I make sense."

As you can probably imagine, it didn't go so well. Even though my mom at the time had abilities or insight I guess you'd call it, she wouldn't talk about it because of her religious beliefs.

Instead we went to doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists and worship to try to correct this. In the process I found a great deal of ego behind the professions of psychology and psychiatry and in every case found what could or couldn't be done or said, would be monitored by something or someone else outside of what was going on. It felt cold and censored and even they would only answer to HMO guidelines. The bottom line was, there is something wrong with you. Well, just yuck!

Although I understand some order is necessary, not everything, in fact, I'd go as far to say most things, if you want to get to the bottom of them, don't require someone else telling you it is or isn't ok.

You'll have just as many good and bad experiences through trial and error as you would from someone with umpteen degrees and role as an authority figure, but in the end the difference is whether or not you want to share THEIR reality or one of your own. Go for your own!

I too was a victim of the religious extremist mind-set as a child. I had my toys and dolls burned in front of me to expell 'demons'. I was prayed over everytime I had a nightmare. And the thing was, we DID have spirit activity in the house and it all added up to a terrified childhood.
After growing up and being involved in minor exorcisms three times, a priest finally told me I had gifts and that I was grieving the Holy Spirit if I continued to think of them as evil. I had no problem throwing out the evil! LOL I always thot they were good--but no one else did.
Now I use them and just keep my mouth shut for the most part.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It sounds like you've rebounded nicely, though.

Wouldn't it be nicer, instead of feeling you shouldn't speak about it, to live that gift just like anything you were meant to do? What if Van gough or St. John of the cross were stymied in their prime. If that produces a bit of stage fright, think of it this way, it isn't uncommon for the general public to embrace something in it's beauty and entirety up to a century later. I think it takes that long and even longer, to go against the grain of public reason

well I don't hide my gifts I just don't put them out on a stage either. When I was younger I felt a need to be valifdated by others, but it is not so much now. I know that I know...you know?

Yes, I totally get this Validation from other people is kind the the first level. I think when we're wondering whether or not something is wrong. I was thinking more in terms of, feeling compelled to do something with it if it's a large part of a person's life.

For me, what drives me is how much time could be saved when pertinant issues arise in a person's life and the goals they have in mind. I love cutting through the mish-mash of societ or whatever people around them are telling them that they might be listening to. I know for some people, they need that time for whatever reason. It's probably comfortable for them.

My sisster used to say, "No coasting for you." I think that's right but an occupational hazzard, lol.

Do you think everyone has some level of the gift that they just don't tap into?

I do!

That 90% or so part of the brain that nobody can figure out what it is for - I think that is where some of these psychic powers lie.

Because look at how often some type of psychic power can be tapped into in an emergency or when there is danger to a family member. A 125 lb mother can lift a car off of her 3 yr old child. A twin knows exactly when her sister goes into labor, even though they live in different states. When a baby is crying - sudden panicky crying, the mother is the one that immediately figures out what it wrong and can calm the child.

But for most of us it takes these moments of extremem duress to tap into that part of our brain.

Then there are the few that have thast ability opened to them naturally. Like some people have a natural talent for dance or painting.

Sure people can take lessons to learn to paint or dance- but unless that gift is already there, they more than likely are not going to be one of the greats. Their talents lie elsewhere

As do I for basically the same reasons. Some of us are born with certain gifts (maybe you were a wonderful pianist in your last life and you still remember most of it!), but I believe *everyone* has the capability to utilize much more of their brains than the average person actually uses. Our psychic abilities can be tapped into and used for our higher good and the good of others. Meditation is the backbone to all magickal work. If you start there, it will take you places you never dreamed. Enjoy your walk on the path!

I couldn't agree more. When people ask how they can increase psychic abilities or how can they begin just tapping in, I always say, "It's not fancy but you won't have to spend a lot of money. All you have to do is, be quiet."

Hi there, i totally agree with you. Everyone has the ability, i believe, we have to want to nurture it. Although with todays society and others ideal worlds were supposed to fit into, for some its more difficult to obtain. But most definately a bid yes, to some of the crazy prices out there, the best way i found was to find like minded souls, and if your following your gut, they will become known to you in time. x
