I thought that it was quite strange that Barack Obama did a world tour in the same way a President would, and I was even more surprised by his welcome in London. I'm a Brit myself, but I can't see the attraction.

What do you think has drawn people from UK and the rest of Europe to this man? What has he got?

For one thing, Obama's opponent had been scolding him for not having been to some of those places before. So it wasn't very strange that he should want to cut those complaints short.
As for his reception, who knows what attracts them to a candidate
to the US presidency? To people with no stake in American politics his fame must be the important thing, and a lot of people go crazy for celebrity.

I think he just has good charisma... he has the potential to be a modern day Kennedy. Post-Olympics when things really pick up, time will tell. Interestingly, I feel like among my usually-policially-active friends, mostly dems, there's not much excitement about the election. We didn't even much care between Hillary/Barack, and now that it's decided, it's not like we don't know who we are voting for!

I definately know who I am NOT voting for ;0)
